Some great things to learn about foods!
Some of the cooking terms I have learned:
Degrease=To remove fat from the surface of stews, soups, or stock. Usually cooled in the refrigerator so that fat hardens and is easily removed.
Marinate=To flavor and moisturize pieces of meat, poultry, seafood or vegetable by soaking them in or brushing them with a liquid mixture of seasonings known as a marinade. Dry marinade mixtures composed of salt, pepper, herbs or spices may also be rubbed into meat, poultry or seafood. My mother’s famous dish was marinated chicken and broccoli. I will never forget this term because now I can carry on the family dish in my future household.
Al Dante=Italian term used to describe pasta that is cooked until it offers a slight resistance to the bite. ***I learned this term specifically from my Grandma GG when I was taught to cook my Italian pasta dish.
